At least one South Dakota lawmaker opposes the proposed merger of the South Dakota Agriculture and Natural Resources Departments. Senate Minority Leader Troy Heinert filed a Senate Resolution of Disapproval in response to Governor Noem’s executive order on the merger. At this time, the resolution hasn’t been scheduled for a committee hearing, but the bill is expected to be considered in the Senate Agriculture Committee. If this disapproval bill does not advance, the proposed merger would take effect.
