Once lawmakers return to Bismarck after crossover, the House will review funding for North Dakota State University Extension and research. Governor Burgum’s proposal called for significant cuts, but the dollars were reinstated in the Senate bill. Representative Mike Beltz, who is a former chairman for the State Board of Agricultural Research and Education, encourages people to be engaged in this process. “To make sure that stays strong, people need to reach out to their legislators. This bill doesn’t go through the ag committee, it goes straight to appropriations. If you have strong feelings on those budgets, let those people know it is important.”
