Once he’s sworn in as agriculture secretary, Tom Vilsack will get started on Biden administration priorities. National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett is expecting the USDA to place a big emphasis on COVID. “We talked with Mr. Vilsack last week. Vilsack encouraged me and NCGA President John Linder to get vaccinated. We want to get back to in-person meetings. I’m a little tired of Zoom meetings. I’d like to see people in person, but we can’t do that until we get to the other side of the pandemic. We’ll be hearing more about that from the Biden administration.” Doggett says climate change will be another priority at the USDA. “There is a lot of concern about electric vehicles, and rightfully so, but we do believe there will be a continued need for ethanol.”
