A proposal to include the agriculture commissioner on North Dakota Land Board has been approved in the State Senate. This change would require a constitutional amendment so the issue will eventually come before voters. The Land Board is responsible for the management and stewardship of the state’s land and minerals. The Land Board currently has five members; the governor, secretary of state, superintendent of public instruction, state treasurer and attorney general.
