Cold weather also is playing a role in the livestock markets. “The feeder cattle were hanging on for most of Tuesday’s session,” said Brian Strommen, market analyst, Progressive Ag Marketing. “Many sale barns were closed in the early part of the week due to the cold conditions, maybe that’s offering support.” The cold weather also pushed the live cattle market to fresh highs. “The cold weather disrupts weight gains and there’s a lot of feed going through the cattle.”
