Louis Dreyfus’ sugar and ethanol subsidiary, Bioserve, is being sold to a joint venture between Royal Dutch Shel and Cosan South America. This joint venture will pay $670 million and offer preferred shares to Bioserve investors. The 35 mills in this deal can easily shift from sugar to ethanol production.
