The South Dakota Senate Agriculture Committee heard from several in the South Dakota Agriculture Department on Tuesday regarding the proposed merger of the agriculture and environment departments. Interim Agriculture Secretary Hunter Roberts testified. “Governor Kristi Noem issued the re-authorization executive order. If there’s no action taken by the Legislature in April 2021, that’s 90 days, this action takes effect,. In July, the next fiscal year, the two department budgets will merge. That’s the timeline we’ve been working through.”
