yThe American Malting Barley Association Board of Directors released their list of recommended malting barley varieties for U.S. growers in 2021. Changes from the previous year include dropping Scarlett and adding Flavia, Mayflower and Moravian 179. Flavia is a winter variety and will do well in the eastern U.S. Mayflower has good yields in the Northern Plains and Intermountain West and Moravian 179 is also adapted for the Northern Plains. All three new varieties are two-row barley types.
