In an effort to end the port worker and soybean crush facility workers strike, Argentina’s soybean crush companies are offering a salary increase of 35 percent plus a 70,000 Argentine peso ($840) COVID bonus. These workers are demanding wage increases big enough to offset inflation and risks from working during the COVID-19 pandemic. The workers unions have yet to respond to the latest offer. The strike is nearing 20 days and Argentina’s government is urging the parties to meet on Tuesday to resolve differences.
