Ohio Representative Marcia Fudge and former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp were seen as the two front-runners for the USDA job. Fudge is now expected to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development. There’s speculation Heitkamp could still be chosen for a sub-cabinet level appointment at USDA.
