The State of Minnesota is expected to have a budget surplus of $641 million for the 2020-2021 biennium. Minnesota Management and Budget released the forecast, saying a $1.3 billion budgetary shortfall is expected for 2022-2023. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz cites this economic forecast, saying a COVID relief package is now more likely.
