The EPA did not meet the November 30 deadline to issue the 2021 biofuel blending requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard. National Farmers Union Biofuels Advisor Anne Steckel says it will be a challenge not to have the guidelines or mandates in place for next year. “Producers aren’t sure what they’re supposed to be making. We hope the Biden administration could do something quickly for the issue. It puts negative, downward pressure on the program to not have details in place.” How the Biden administration handles the RFS will be important. “We’ve received positive statements from the president-elect about his support for the RFS and we feel good hearing that sort of reaction to the program, but know we have work to do with the incoming administration to get these things out in a timely fashion.”
