After a tough year due to COVID-19, American Sheep Industry Association Senior Policy and Information Director Chase Adams says the outlook for 2021 is bright. “We were able to get direct payments to producers. That certainly helped bridge the gap. It didn’t make anyone whole, but it put optimism back in the industry and we’re seeing good lamb prices along with continued consumer demand.” Adams says there is an increased interest in raising sheep. “In every Census of Agriculture, we have more sheep farmers. We are a dual product and see lots of consumer demand for lamb and high quality, fine wools.”
