Taipei, Taiwan was the site of massive protests over the weekend. The annual protest march organized by labor included demonstrations about U.S. pork imports. As of January 1, Taiwan will accept imports of U.S. pork containing ractopamine and U.S. beef from cattle more than 30 months of age. The main opposition party is opposed to the use of the growth promotant and is making it a high-profile issue.
