The U.S. Soybean Export Council hosted a meeting last week with Chinese importers including COFCO, Sinograin, ADM, Bunge, CHS and Cargill. USSEC Chair and Valley City, North Dakota farmer Monte Peterson says it was a great way to connect. “There’s no question our relationship with China’s soy supply chain is in good shape. I think they look forward to doing business with us as much as we look forward to doing business with them,” explains Peterson. “I’ve heard nothing but encouraging comments from that meeting. Things are pretty much back to normal in China. People are traveling in China, but we are still meeting virtually.” Peterson says the global soy complex has also pivoted. “The world has transitioned from a global surplus of soy to one that is tightening supplies. That’s encouraging and a good thing.” Hear the story.
