A South Dakota native is the new chairman of the U.S. Meat Export Federation. Cargill Protein Vice President of International Sales Pat Binger transitioned to the leadership role during last week’s USMEF Virtual Strategic Planning Conference. Binger says the biggest challenge for the upcoming year will be the COVID uncertainty. “It’s good to hear there’s a possible vaccine. We’re going to need things like that in order to stabilize these markets, both from a demand and supply perspective.” Additional challenges ahead for the meat industry include packing plant disruptions, addressing trade barriers and changes in U.S. trade policy.
