The Center for Responsive Politics said a record $14 billion in political donations were made in this campaign season nationwide, including $6.6 billion in the presidential election. Agri-Pulse Editor Sara Wyant does not expect the spending by agricultural political action committees and others to stop anytime soon. However, the agriculture community is seeing a need for bipartisanship. “Those ag PACs that have been with only one political party in the past might be having more conversations about whether they should balance their giving in ways that they haven’t been willing to do in previous campaigns.” Wyant was part of a political discussion at the AgriGrowth meeting.
