With Congressman Collin Peterson out as the chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, the speculation now shifts to who will fill that job. Pro Farmer Washington Analyst Jim Wiesemeyer says there are three names in the mix. “It’s David Scott of Georgia, Jim Costa of California or Marcia Fudge from Ohio. Behind the scenes, the Congressional Black Caucus is pushing for Marcia Fudge. Not only would be she be the first woman and black American to lead the panel, the focus would change to nutrition, food safety, etc. and that would be a big change.”
