Syngenta Crop Protection has acquired an Italy-based biologicals company called Valagro. Corey Huck, who is the head of global biologicals, says this acquisition helps address Syngenta’s focus on sustainability. “The driver being how do we make actually make and put the technology toward understanding on how we make the plant healthier,” said Huck. “It balances out our portfolio between crop protection, seed traits and biologicials.” Huck says the biologicals market is expected to have a ten percent compounded annual growth rate over the next five-to-ten years. Valagro will continue to operate as an independent brand within Syngenta Crop Protection.
