As of mid-September, the Risk Management Agency paid out more indemnities in eastern North Dakota and northeastern South Dakota than any other part of the country. South Dakota’s Brown County received more than $56.5 million in crop insurance payments so far this year. That’s the most for any county in the tri-state region. That’s followed by North Dakota’s Barnes County with over $52 million and North Dakota’s Cass County with more than $48 million. The number one county for crop insurance indemnities in Minnesota is Norman County with nearly $12 million.
