The Endangered Species Act was under the microscope during a hearing of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Wednesday. North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer said the endangered species program would be successful if more species were delisted. There are over 2,300 species and plants on the list today and Cramer said only 60 have been delisted since 1973. A bill to delay litigation over the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s delisting activity was highlighted, but action is not expected until the new Congress is in place.
