The Northern Plains Potato Growers Association launched a virtual field day series called Potato Days last week. In recorded videos, researchers take a closer look at the potato crop growing in the Red River Valley. North Dakota State University professor Gary Secor and Extension Plant Pathologist Julie Pasche say there hasn’t been much, if any, late blight reported at this time. “I give credit to the industry for keeping that under control,” says Secor. “There have been spores detected, but nothing major at this time.” There is also some soft rot being noted due to the weather during the growing season.
