Ellinwood, Kansas-based custom harvester Taff Hughes just wrapped up durum harvest in North Dakota. “It’s been dry all year long. There was quite a bit of regrowth in the durum and we fought that a bit, but the crop went quick. The quality was really good, about 62 to 63 pound test weight.” Yields were lower. “They were in the 30s or maybe low 40 bushels per acre. Then, a storm came and took out some acres.”
