Daisy, North Dakota farmer Jim Broten is finished with rye harvest. It was an average crop. “I thought the rye may be a little bit better, but the heat shortened heads up a bit. We’re on the low end of the yields at 40 bushels an acre.” Broten says the barley is a little too wet. “The main head is ripe, but some of the tillers are awfully dry and some of the heads are a little green.”
