Based on August 1 conditions, South Dakota’s 2020 corn crop is forecast to be up 47 percent from last year. A record large soybean crop is also on the way with production expected to be up 76 percent from a year ago. The average corn yield is forecast at 167 bushels per acre, up 23 bushels from last year. A record soybean yield of 50 bushels per acre is anticipated, up 7.5 bushels from last year. Spring wheat yields expected to reach 47 bushels per acre, up two bushels from last year. South Dakota’s spring wheat production is projected to be up 41 percent from last year.
