Grygla, Minnesota, farmer Gary Anderson is cautiously optimistic for this year’s spring wheat harvest. Weather pending, Anderson plans to start wheat harvest in the middle of this week. That’s a littler earlier than usual, due to the summer heat. “The wheat crop in most places looks quite good. I think it will be slightly better yielding than last year. The heads seem longer and it doesn’t seem like much disease pressure.” Anderson says there’s been more rain in the area than farmers want, but the wetness hasn’t caused too much damage to fields. “I know there are areas west of us inundated with rain, more than us, so we’ve been lucky in that respect.”
