Montana Wheat and Barley Committee Outreach Coordinator Sam Anderson says winter wheat harvest continues to make progress in the state. “The winter wheat harvest is at least 20 percent complete, behind the five year average. Things have been really dry in the last few weeks and farmers are harvesting like crazy, trying to get everything off of the fields.” Yields and quality have been very good. “The winter wheat has been looking incredible with yields in the 60 bushels per acre range and the protein in the 12 and 13 percentage range.”
