The Senate GOP coronavirus relief package includes $20 billion in direct funding for agricultural assistance. When combined with the $14 billion that has already been authorized for the Commodity Credit Corporation, USDA will have a total of $34 billion in funding for agriculture. This funding includes more than $76 million for additional salaries and expenses for the Farm Service Agency to deal with staffing issues. This proposal allows USDA to help offset costs for euthanizing animals due to processing plant closures and slowdowns.
