People from across the country have been receiving unsolicited packages of seed from China. Minnesota Department of Agriculture Seed Unit Supervisor Denise Thiede says USDA is investigating this odd situation. “We are contacting each person that notified us and we’re asking them to submit the original packaging and the seed contents. We’re going to send those seeds off (to USDA) for identification and destruction.” If you received one of these packages, contact your state department of agriculture. Thiede says the seeds may pose a risk to agriculture from invasive pests or noxious weeds.
