The corn and soybeans in western Ohio are in decent shape. Sunrise Cooperative Vice President of Grain Craig Haugaard says stress is starting to show in areas of the corn and soybean fields. “Once we get timely rains, we’ll be alright. It’s been dry the last few weeks. We’ve seen some spotty showers, but not a good, overall rain that we really need. I feel cautiously optimistic and sick to my stomach at the same time.” Haugaard says corn pollination is still happening. “We’ve got some later-planted fields that haven’t tasseled as well; the further south you go in Ohio, the better things are.”
