Congress is expected to take up another coronavirus assistance package later this month. Over the past two years, approximately $29 billion has gone out to farmers above and beyond the farm bill. “Economic conditions are even worse this year,” said Tom Sell, managing partner, Combest Sell and Associates. “That fundamental need is what is going to create a response by Congress.” In an interview with the Red River Farm Network, Sell said he expects the next coronavirus assistance program to simple to administer, like the second round of Market Facilitation Program payments.
