Lakota-based Huso Crop Consulting owner Mark Huso expects fungicide applications to begin this week on the early wheat in in northeastern North Dakota. There’s a big difference between the early wheat and the crop was planted later in the spring. “That’s going to be a fungicide nightmare when it comes to timing. We’ll have to make the decision if we’re going to make multiple fungicide application trips or if we’re going to use a product with a wider spectrum for spraying.” As wet as it has been in many places it may be surprising, but Huso is seeing problems with grasshoppers. Grasshoppers have been found on field edges and causing injury to wheat and dry beans.
