The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has confiscated nearly 20,000 pounds of meat products from China. The pork, beef, chicken and duck products were moving through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The meat was mixed into boxes containing everything from kitchenware to cell phone covers. In the first five months of this fiscal year, the interception of illegal meat products from China to the Long Beach/Los Angeles port is up 70 percent from last year.
