Cash basis bids have been firming slightly over the past month as more ethanol plants come back on line. Utterback Marketing President Bob Utterback says farmer are also reluctant sellers, which is firming the cash bid. “The firmness we’re seeing in the basis right now is an artificial situation. Some demand is starting to creep into the market. We have to be very careful and not get caught holding bushels.” Utterback says be short term positive, but don’t get bullish.
