Due to spring flooding, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has requested a presidential major disaster declaration. In the letter to President Trump, Burgum said river and overland flooding caused significant damage to roads, bridges and culverts across North Dakota. A presidential disaster declaration would unlock federal resources to help in the recovery process. Meanwhile, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has agreed to work with state and local officials in Stutsman County to permanently fix roads damaged by too much water.
