The Minnesota Senate unanimously passed an emergency rural broadband bill. The $20 million bill expands rural broadband access to students and their families. Authored by Senator Torrey Westrom, the bill designates $10 million for the Border to Broadband Fund, $8 million for distance learning grants for students and $2 million going toward reimbursing healthcare providers who invest in telemedicine equipment for COVID-19 care.
