A good planting window in April usually means more corn acres, but Bower Trading president Jim Bower says that may not be the case this year. “Corn prices are lower. If farmers have high cash rent and marginal yield, that can get ugly quick,” says Bower. “I wouldn’t be surprise if some acres are starting to shift now away from the corn over to the soybeans or another crop. We’ll see how this year shapes up.”
