Now that USDA’s April Supply and Demand report is out, planting the 2020 crop is the next focus for traders. Planting progress will vary by region. “We’re well aware in central Illinois what farmers in the Northern Plains are dealing with,” said Brian Basting, commodity research analyst, Advance Trading. “Down here, I would emphasize conditions have turned dry. Conditions won’t be cold in the next week to 10 days. I could see some corn being planted.” There is a lot of uncertainty around the number of corn acres that will get planted.
