The hog markets are experiencing losses due to the coronavirus. “There was a been a pretty hard drop in the futures market in March. Uncertainty has driven that,” said David Preisler, CEO, Minnesota Pork Producers Association. “Now, there’s a packing plant in Canada that has shut down for two weeks. The biggest concern is the drop in the futures and cash market.” Preisler said farmers are awaiting the details of USDA’s livestock assistance. “There’s lots of unknowns here.”
