Matthew Sperry, a student at South Dakota State University, has a passion for precision agriculture. That passion for the industry is why Sperry was selected as one of this year’s BASF and National Corn Growers Association scholarship recipients. “My biggest reason for pursuing a degree in agriculture is my interest in technology,” says Sperry. “Growing up, I was always tinkering with computers. Modern day agriculture offers so many computerized components. I get the best of both worlds with precision ag.” The Bath, South Dakota native hopes to return to the family farm one day. But first, Sperry would like to gain work experience in the precision agriculture industry that can also be applied to the farm. Other scholarship recipients included Abbey Schiefelbein of Kimball, Minnesota and Madeline Weninger of Buffalo, Minnesota. Hear the full RRFN interview with Sperry.
