The short-term outlook for the Northern Plains is wet. That’s according to USDA Midwest Climate Hub Director Dennis Todey. “There’s still a chunk of crops sitting the fields. Despite recent dryness in the last 30 days, the underlying issues are still there deep in the soil profile. Any additional precipitation will continue to slow getting crops out.” Todey reminds farmers to be careful doing fieldwork when it’s muddy. “We want to caution people on getting out when soils are too wet. Try to be as careful as possible.”
