The South Dakota Farmers Union has sent a letter to Governor Kristi Noem and other state leaders asking them to investigate the possibility of price fixing among four U.S. meat packers. In the letter, SDFU President Doug Sombke says packers are using the coronavirus ordeal as an excuse to suck the life blood out of the cattle industry. Sombke also references the low sales from the Friday, March 13 cattle sale at Ft. Pierre Livestock. SDFU would like stricter enforcement of anti-trust laws.
