The recent snowmelt is bringing optimism to some farmers. Near Hillsboro, North Dakota, farmer Cindy Pulskamp says they want to get in the fields quickly, but there are still some questions surrounding unharvested sugarbeet fields. “There are different things people are going to try, depending on ground conditions and if farmers could get sugarbeet tops removed. Some will plant in-between the rows of sugarbeets. Other farmers don’t have that option. This will be a first for many sugarbeet growers in the area. The hope is we’ll be able to get a very successful crop this year.”
