This is the 100th anniversary of the American Soybean Association. Brewster, Minnesota farmer Bill Gordon is the sixth grower from Minnesota to serve as ASA president and his family farm is also celebrating its 100th year in business. The signing of the phase one trade agreement with China has been one highlight for Gordon. The implementation of that trade deal has been complicated by the coronavirus outbreak. Due to travel restrictions, it is impossible to have face-to-face meetings with the Chinese. Coronavirus is also an issue for the global economy. “It is just slowing down commerce over there. We’re hearing China has a glut of soybean oil they use for frying because people are not going out to eat. There’s frozen pork sitting at the port; they have some real problems.”
