On Thursday, Minnesota will get a budget forecast. At the start of the session, there was a projected $1.3 billion surplus. If there is a surplus, both chambers want to spend that money differently. The House is proposing one-time spending measures on child care and the Senate wants to focus on tax cuts. However, Governor Walz could bolster state reserves for a downturn in the economy.
