In 2019, farm bankruptcies increased 24 percent. During Thursday’s Ag Outlook Forum, USDA said North Dakota was one of three states reporting particularly high bankruptcy rates. Debt-to-asset levels are the highest since 2003. USDA also says a growing portion of U.S. corn, soybean and hog farmers are burdened by debt-to-asset levels greater than 70 percent.
