Minnesota Wheat Executive Director Charlie Vogel says 2019 was a great reminder of how important the little things are in production. “Things are easy in perfect conditions and 2019 was 180 degrees from perfect conditions,” says Vogel. “It really showed the importance of variety selection, diversification, marketing and it was a great lesson in resilience. It’s hard to find bright spots in 2019, but they’re there. It’s just learning and applying those things moving forward.” Vogel is also anticipating wheat acres to decline slightly in 2020.
