With the CRP general sign-up, the ARC/PLC sign-up, the Market Facilitation Program and WHIP-plus, it is a busy time for the Farm Service Agency county offices. According to North Dakota State Executive Director Brad Thykeson, appointments are being taken. “If you haven’t heard by now, we’re getting trimmed on our staff so we need to make sure these offices are working as efficiently as possible.” In addition to farm programs, FSA has a role as a lender. Both direct and guaranteed loans are available. “I think we’re on the cusp of what is going to happen; when you go in to visit with your borrower and they see the equity slipped, they’ll look at other avenues and we have those tools to help.”
