Crop insurance protects farmers against losses caused by crop failure. Ihry Insurance Agency agent Reed Ihry says that was certainly evident this past season. In addition, federal programs are available. “WHIP+ is based off of the multi-peril policy that you had so benefits you the higher you bought up in the past,” said Ihry. “We want to buy just as much multi-peril coverage level that you can handle; it costs more, but it covers more.” Ihry encourages growers to pay attention to deadlines for crop insurance and the farm programs. Ihry Insurance hosted meetings in Devils Lake, Hope and Hillsboro.
