The latest Cattle on Feed Report was mostly in-line with expectations. The USDA report says there are 12 million cattle on feed for slaughter as of January 1, a two percent increase from one year ago. That includes 7.3 million steers and 4.5 million heifers. Placements in feedlots during December were up three percent from 2019 and totaling more than 1.8 million head. Marketings of fed cattle were up five percent from the previous year at 1.83 million head. Disappearance totaled 67,000 head, 11 percent less than last year. View the January report here.
